Periodontal disease is a severe infection in the gum tissues typically resulting from poor dental hygiene and the presence of hardened tartar. Advanced periodontal disease is referred to as periodontitis, and it is known to create infected pockets along the tooth roots, leading to a loss of bone structure and therefore teeth.

To help you replace teeth lost to periodontal disease, Dr. Jason Campbell may recommend that you be fitted with custom dentures. Depending on the extent of your tooth loss, you only need to receive a denture appliance for the upper or lower teeth, but it is not uncommon for patients to need both sets of teeth restored with dentures.

Following the removal of any teeth lingering in your smile, our team can create a detailed impression of your unique gum structure so that we can submit it to the dental lab to use as a guide when creating the custom dentures. We want to ensure that your dentures have a custom fit that enables them to attach firmly to your gum structure. However, you may find that you also prefer to use a denture adhesive for a hold that is extra secure.

We encourage you to rinse your dentures thoroughly when you remove them at night. To keep them clean, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture polish to give them a gentle brushing with, and then place them in an overnight soak.

If you have experienced significant tooth loss due to periodontal disease, we invite you to call Pro Solutions Dental Group at 928-776-1208 and schedule a consultation with our dentists to discuss receiving dentures in Prescott, Arizona.
